The homework has the memory verse (left side) of Proverbs 17:17 and on the theme this week (right side) is how to encourage our friends.

Every week we make little booklets with a memory verse, a couple of devotionals, and activities.

The kids LOVE memory verses. Of course there’s prizes every quarter. The scale of the prizes to choose from depends on the attendance, homework’s turned in, attitude, and how many verses were memorized.

The last few weeks the theme has been friendship. Some of our topics have been: That Jesus calls us friend, how to pray for our friends, and how be a trustworthy friend.

Homework has been something we’ve done on and off over the years. During exams or busy schoolwork phases, ministry homework takes a back seat.

Sometimes we have comic strips, sometimes it’s really heavy on the devotionals, or on the activities.

Most of our ministry planning and prep is based off our current group of kids and what’s working best for them in the moment. Kid’s ministry is a never ending creative endeavor! It’s fun, and if it’s no longer bringing fun and excitement, it’s time to shake things up.
